…from being founded in 2011 with 20 full-time employees to our expansion as a global brand now providing services to blue-chip clients.
Since being acquired by the Digicall Group in 2016, the Sigma Connected Group has grown rapidly. In the process, the Group has added new capabilities such as McLaren Credit Services and the Ethics & Fraud Hotline. We now also boast operations in South Africa, the UK and Australia.
Although we have grown, we are proud to retain the values we held from the start. We also remain relatable and accessible and have maintained our company culture of putting people first. This includes our clients, their customers, our employees and the people in the communities where we work.
Sigma Connected SA Growth Timeline
The Directors of Digicall Group and Sigma Connected Group identified an opportunity to create a business to serve the South African Domestic BPO market under the Sigma Connected South Africa brand.
Five operations in the Digicall Group were identified as having the necessary IP and resources to disrupt the market and were therefore merged to effectively compete with existing players in the BPO space:
- iSmart – Over 17 years of experience in acquisition, customer service, quality assurance and collections in the telecommunications industry.
- SummerMobile – Over 15 years of experience in acquisition and retention services in the telecommunications industry.
- Advance Call – Over 20 years of experience in the business process outsourcing industry.
- SA External Debt Collections – Over 23 years of experience in debt collections and customer service for domestic and international clients.
- BATSA – Over 11 years of customer service and insurance claim handling in the FMCG industry.
In May 2022, Sigma Connected South Africa officially launched and it’s flagship office in Woodstock Quarter in Cape Town was unveiled. The business opened its doors with 278 FTE across sites in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Sigma Connected South Africa lauded by President Ramaphosa
In June 2022, Sigma Connected South Africa’s David Neale (Managing Director) and Aeysha Coetzee (Head of People) attended a high-profile National Youth Day event following an invite from Harambee due to the successful partnership work Sigma Connected has undertaken to employ over 1,000 people from disadvantaged backgrounds through Impact Sourcing. Sigma Connected South Africa opens the first contact centre in Mitchells Plain
In July 2022, Sigma Connected South Africa made national headlines for being the first BPO in South Africa to open a contact centre in Mitchells Plain, a tier 2 community in Cape Town. Leaders within the business have a vision to consistently put our people first and this development allowed us to bring the work to the people, flipping the normal way of doing business on it’s head.
